Baby showers are the events we decorate most, so we know exactly where they succeed and where they get awkward. Here's the honest playbook for choosing a baby shower venue in Pittsburgh — by budget, by region, and by how much work you want to do yourself.
The three venue tiers (and what they really cost)
- Budget ($0–$500): homes, church halls and community rooms. Cheapest, but you're hauling chairs, taping streamers and cleaning up while the guest of honor opens gifts.
- Mid-range ($500–$2,000): private event spaces and restaurant rooms. This is the sweet spot — real aesthetics, someone else handles setup, and photos look professional.
- Premium ($2,000+): garden venues, boutique hotels, country clubs. Beautiful, but often overkill for a 3-hour daytime shower.
Our pick for the whole metro: the firehouse in Blawnox
Party on Butler's converted firehouse hits the mid-range tier with premium-tier photos. Natural light (showers are daytime events — this matters more than anything), room for the full family guest list up to 100, free on-site parking for the grandmas, and the balloon-and-backdrop team is literally in the building. Weekday showers run $1,500, Sundays $2,000 — and Sunday afternoon is the classic shower slot.
Picking by region
- North Hills / Fox Chapel / Oakmont: Blawnox (that's us) is the easy middle point — minutes off Route 28.
- Downtown / South Side: restaurant private rooms work well; ask about F&B minimums and whether you can bring a backdrop in.
- East End: cafes and garden spaces are lovely May–September; always confirm the rain plan.
Five questions to ask before booking any shower venue
- Can we get in early to set up (or do you set up for us)?
- Is there free parking, and how far is it from the door?
- Can we bring our own cake/desserts without a fee?
- What decor is allowed — backdrops, balloon installs, hanging pieces?
- What happens to our deposit if the date needs to move?
